This is Tachyon V4

A computer system for your Airsoft gun

We have recently released a firmware update to Tachyon V4.

We have added a small utility feature, where you can now use one of the peripheral ports for shot output signal. When set up, it will output a digital signal pulse for a configurable duration. This can be used for example with flashlights to create a flash when a shot is fired. We will be releasing some accessories to make easy use of this in the future, but this function is available for you starting now, if you don't mind some tinkering to hook it up to a little MOSFET to control the light.

WHAT'S NEW SINCE V3

  • Built-in 550 mAh Battery for minimum 6-hour nonstop runtime (full brightness & screensaver disabled)
  • Micro USB charging
  • TachyonLink companion application: create custom graphics packs, get firmware updates and more through USB
  • Redesigned shape and dimensions
  • New addons
  • Electronic power switch - no more slide switches. Simply turn the device on with a single button press
  • Other minor software and hardware improvements

FEATURES

AMMO COUNTER

  • Displays both number and visual bar with configurable style and behaviour
  • 6 quick-change presets of 0-9999 rounds
  • Color changes at 2/3 and 1/3 of ammo percentage
  • Can count down or up
  • Shots detected using an infrared barrel sensor, mechanical shocks, or both combined for misfire detection

3-AXIS MAGNETIC COMPASS

  • Displays your current magnetic heading
  • 3 Modes: Bearing (Azimuth), 8 Cardinal directions (N,NE,...), 16 Cardinal directions (N,NNE,NE,...)
  • Critical for proper navigation and tactical awareness
  • Fully 3D with automatic ground reference - works under any angle and orientation

HOP-UP ASSIST

  • Alerts you when your weapon is tilted sideways too much
  • Helps to fire BBs with optimal upward spin to maintain best range & accuracy
  • Configurable (1-10 degrees) tilt threshold angle

REAL-TIME CLOCK

  • Shows the current time in 24hr format
  • Helps keep track of important game events

FIRE RATE METER

  • Accurately measure the inter-shot delay of your airsoft gun
  • Calculates the fire rate in standard rounds per minute (RPM)
  • Requires our Infrared barrel sensor for best results

SHOT OUTPUT

  • Configurable electrical signal pulse when a shot is detected
  • Can be used to control flashlights. Accessories for this feature are coming soon.

EXTENSIVE CUSTOMIZATION

  • More than 30 different settings ranging from UI colors, styles, behaviour or feature configuration

Tachyon V4 has 3 modes of operation:
  1. Infrared detection - Fired BBs are detected using an IR barrel-mounted sensor. Most accurate with best results, but the external sensor must be attached, replacing any potential barrel attachments.
  2. Shock detection - Shots are detected through mechanical shocks by an on-board contact microphone. No external sensor is needed, but functionality is slightly limited. See Sound detection for more information.
  3. Combined mode - Shots are detected using both methods at once, which enables misfire detection. When a shot is detected through shock, but no out-going BB is detected by the sensor, a warning is displayed.

Setup is easy and simple. All you need to do, is to attach the barrel sensor (if used), and the Tachyon computer to your weapon.

Yes, but: we recommend to use the Infrared barrel sensor with HPAs since they sometimes tend to be too quiet for the Shock detection system.

GBBRs have usually no issue with the Shock detection system as they tend to be very loud.

In any case, we guarantee 100% functionality and shot-sensing accuracy on any airsoft gun when the Infrared sensor is used (IR mode).

We currently do not offer IR sensors for paintball markers, although the device can be used on these in Shock detection mode. We have numerous happy customers who use Tachyon on paintball markers in SD mode.

NO. Tachyon is not meant nor designed for real firearms. Using it as such will result in damage to the device and/or its components. Tachyon is only meant to be used with airsoft guns or other similar action sport equipment. Do not use it on real firearms. We have no intentions to change this anytime in the future.

Yes, but only in Shock detection mode. We currently only offer sensors which clamp on 14mm muzzle threads. We are working on a solution to this problem. You will be able to purchase a sensor with different mounting or even an integrated tracer unit and use it with the current hardware in the future.

Yes, all of the sensing hardware is separate from the shell. You can purchase the internals from our shop and build a custom shell/mount for it. You can even use 3rd party sensor units, as long as they can run on 3.3 V. The sensor output is a simple digital pulse on projectile detection.

We do not offer any 3D files for download, although we are happy to provide them on request. If you would like to get any 3D files, please contact us by email.
